Flavored water is the new cool beverage!!!  Put down the sodas, mineral waters, and sugar-sweetened teas.  Making your own flavored water is almost free and there a lot of different choices for flavor.  By adding a few ingredients, you have tasty, refreshing water with no added sugar.  As a bonus, the water absorbs the nutrients from the ingredients added for flavor.  The ONIE team is sharing 4 of our favs!

Cucumber, Lemon Flavored Water!  (6 to 8 servings)

The cucumber adds a cool twist to the lemon flavor. 

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts of water
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 medium cucumber sliced

Directions

  1. Add sliced lemon and cucumber to container.
  2. Add 2 quarts of water.
  3. Store overnight in the refrigerator.

Loads of Citrus! (6 to 8 servings) 

Tart and refreshing. The citrus fruits will add disease-fighting vitamins and help keep your body hydrated.

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts of water
  • 1 lime sliced
  • 1 orange peeled and cut into rounds
  • 1 lemon cut into rounds
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Squeeze the juice from a slice of the lime, orange, and lemon to container.
  2. Add the remaining slices of lime, orange, and lemon to the container.
  3. Pour in water to the top.
  4. Add ice.
  5. Stir with a wooden spoon.
  6. Put in the refrigerator and chill for 1 to 2 hours.

Watermelon Delight!

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts of water
  • 1 sprig of rosemary
  • 2 cups of seedless watermelon
  • cubed Ice

Directions

  1. Add sprig of rosemary to container.
  2. Pour in water to the top.
  3. Stir with wooden spoon.
  4. Add cubed watermelon.
  5. Stir with a wooden spoon.
  6. Add ice.
  7. Put in the refrigerator and chill for 1 to 2 hours.

Yummy Strawberry or Raspberry Flavored Water! (6 to 8 servings)

 strawberries

 Ingredients

  • 2 quarts of water
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Mash strawberries with a fork.
  2. Add mashed fruit to container.
  3. Pour in water to the top.
  4. Stir with a wooden spoon.
  5. Add ice.
  6. Put in the refrigerator and chill for 1 to 2 hours.
