How the Government Shutdown is Impacting your SNAP Benefits

You may have noticed that more money was added to your EBT card on Tuesday, January 15th. However, don’t rush to the grocery store just yet, this is NOT a bonus payment!  Because of the government shutdown, February SNAP benefits were issued early. The next series of SNAP distribution dates is not yet confirmed.

The ONIE Project and Oklahoma SNAP employees encourage you to stretch your SNAP benefits over the next month and a half.

In the meantime, please know that additional support is available.  The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma & Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma are ready to step in and will provide emergency assistance to any SNAP recipients and others who are in need of food during this time. 2-1-1 Oklahoma also has a list of food pantries and other resources that you can search by zip code.

If you would like more information see the OKDHS Press Release.
