Chipotle Black Bean Dip

This zesty bean dip is perfect for any party or family gathering!


  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • 1 (15.5 oz) can no-salt-added black beans, drained & rinsed
  • 2 Tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 Tbsp minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp water


  1. In a small skillet, heat oil over medium.
  2. Add onion, garlic & cumin. Sauté 3-4 minutes, or until onions are tender. Let cool slightly.
  3. Place onion mixture, beans, cilantro, lime juice, chipotle peppers, pepper, remaining oil & water in a blender. 
  4. Blend until smooth. Transfer to a serving bowl.
  5. To serve, top with cilantro.


If you don't have a blender on hand, you can use a fork or a potato masher to make this dip!
