The ONIE Project: Oklahoma Nutrition Information Education
Recipes, education materials, photography, and creative aspects of the calendar are original and developed by the ONIE project team. Format and content was based on formative research conducted by ONIE among Oklahomans who are eligible for SNAP and applied social marketing techniques.
Eighteen recipes were ranked with the final 12 recipes to be featured in the calendar chosen by SNAP eligible families. Each month contained a seasonally-appropriate recipe, color-coded nutrition label that matches the “Making Sense of Nutrition Label” tool featured in the supplemental pages, health tips, in-season produce buys, and indication of whether the recipe meets the ONIE “Match 1 for 1” sodium standard. The ONIE Project: Oklahoma Nutrition Information Education
The supplemental pages strategically feature nutrition education tools to assist and promote core nutrition messages. A list of SNAP accepting Farmers’ Markets across Oklahoma was included to promote fresh, local produce consumption. All nutrition education tools are original ONIE creations that are consistently used in all ONIE materials.
